EXCLUSIVE Interview: Television vet Brainy Smurf!

It was a crisp morning in San Francisco and I sipped on a hot cider as I waited for my guest inside beatnik bar Vesuvio. He was running late, and as he shuffled in the door it was clear that time hadn't been kind–his coke-bottle glasses slipping down, his tattered white hat now more the color of an eggshell, now more miniature then ever. A bit of a hermit since leaving Smurf Village, Brainy put down his text books and turned to prose–rambling, quixotic narratives that have launched Brainy into the literary spotlight.
Cole Stratton: Thanks for taking the time, Brainy.
Brainy Smurf: No problem. I'm a big fan of the blog.

Mystery Smurf Toy #1

smurf village

This is a smurf item I happened to stumble upon on eBay back in Nov, 2005. I vaguely remember that the seller was from Italy. And there ends the information I have on this piece.

It looks like it’s ceramic and I think it’s possible that it’s handmade.

I’ve never seen anything like it since and would be glad of any information anyone has on it.

Aussie Smurf Collector on Radio and TV.

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

SDC11709What an exciting week it must be for fellow Aussie smurf collector, Brad Cox. He’s already had his first tv debut on Adelaide’s Today Tonight’s Kooky Collectors segment which aired on July 2nd, 2009. But this week he will also be delighting listeners on SAFM and NSW airways. The highlight of the week though must be his appearance on this Friday night’s The Collectors on the ABC at 8pm.

Brad will be showcasing his amazing smurf collection and talking about how he came to start collecting smurfs. He’s been collecting smurfs since childhood and this year will also be fulfilling a dream of his; to attend the Blue Paradise Smurf Fair on 8th November 2009 in Belgium.

Can’t wait to see the show. If you’re in Australia and have some time on Friday night I’m sure it will be worth a watch.
