Smurf it Up in Chalk.
Saturday, September 19th, 2009
The Northside Library in Kenosha, Wisconsin held it’s third annual sidewalk chalk contest last Saturday 29th Aug, 2009 and surprisingly smurfs were a feature. The theme of this year’s contest was “Animals in Literature”.
The Hill family’s love of smurfs were their inspiration according to 6 yr old Lacy, “It’s our favorite thing to do,” she said. “This is our first time drawing the Smurfs, and we love the Smurfs.” Lacy, along with brother and her father, Scott, entered the competition in the group category. Their colourful piece consisted of a smurf village complete with Papa smurf and a few of his followers.
In the end the family weren’t amongst the place getters. The group category was won by Monique Rosete and Laura Mylar, both 20 of Kenosha for their whimsical reproduction of the Chesire Cat depicted in “Alice in Wonderland.”
